Honey is Australia’s first smart home insurance dedicated to preventing avoidable accidents that happen in the home. We do this through a re-imagined approach to home insurance that lets customers easily sign-up for the right level of cover by using satellite and third-party data. We then provide customers with smart home technology to help protect their homes, while rewarding them for being proactive. Honey is turning insurance in Australia on its head, reimagining what Australians currently think of insurance through a smarter insurance offering.
What is the company’s approach to professional development?
Our people are the heart and soul of everything we do at Honey and we are committed to providing an environment where they feel supported to achieve their goals, both professionally and personally. We've achieved this through introducing the Growth & Goals development framework which encourages structured conversations between our leaders and team around successes, key deliverables and career aspirations. The framework provides alignment, clarity and purpose to ensure our people are progressing toward individual growth and personal development.
What is the company's culture like?
"Our values are an important part of working at Honey and we believe the principles of being kind, exceptional, resourceful, customer obsessed and focussed have helped us maintain the same supportive culture as we've grown from a business of 10 people to over 80 people. Engagement is high and our culture has been grown organically by our people. A great sense of this is the number of people-led reoccurring activities such as 'bring a dish from your culture' lunches, fortnightly badminton, monthly board game nights, opt-in camping trips and a people led Culture Club responsible for organising quarterly celebrations. Our culture is one of high-trust and empowerment and people appreciate the autonomy and agency they have over their careers. Over the last 12 months our headcount has grown by 124% and we’ve maintained a retention rate of 84%. "
What are the company's plans for the next 12 months?
Our objective for the next 12 months is to continue delivering on our already exceptional customer experience by maintaining our NPS, which sits at 90 year to date. We'll be doing this by launching our reimagined claims experience, expanding on high-impact partnerships and our suite of product offerings to support with proactive prevention. From a people perspective, we're focussed on fostering growth through internal mobility opporutnities and continuing to embed development rituals such as Growth & Goals conversations and 360 Degree Feedback.
How do you approach diversity and inclusion?
"Honey is committed to providing an organisational culture and workplace that fosters diversity and inclusion across all levels of our business and recognises that a diverse workforce and inclusive workplace enhances our performance overall. Diversity in this regard includes: gender, age, ethnic background, race, religion, disability, marital status, parental/ carer status, pregnancy, sexual orientation, personal association, political activity or industrial activity and also encompasses the many ways people may differ including their life experiences, education, job function, work experience, ways of thinking and working, personalities and location. Our employee population is diverse and our differences are respected and celebrated through our inclusive culture. We're committed to closing the gender pay gap which is demonstrated through consistent salary banding and an inclusive approach to internal mobility. Our Customer Support team provide an excellent example of how this looks in practice - earlier this year one of our Customer Support Specialist's was promoted to Team Leader 4 weeks before taking 12 months of parental leave. From a customer perspective, we are committed to engaging experts to identify the most impactful actions that can be taken to ensure our website and product is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. Our goal is for an actionable plan to be in effect within 6 months of policy inception."
