Like Family is on a mission to reduce social isolation and build more inclusive communities. We connect Australians who are ageing, ill, injured or living with disability with compatible support workers in their local area. Whether you need a hand with the groceries or a hiking buddy, we’re here to help!
What is the company’s approach to professional development?
We strongly believe in investing in professional development to help our employees thrive. In fact, it’s one of our company’s values! We offer an annual performance and development program for all employees, 2 paid professional development days, and a $1500 training and development budget per employee.
What is the company's culture like?
Our company culture has recently undergone 2 significant changes to further enhance employee satisfaction and engagement (employee engagement was 79% according to our last internal employee survey). The first was a refresh of our company values to make them memorable, relevant, and integrated across all aspects of our business. The second was the launch of our internal Culture Club, which is made up of employees from across different areas of the business. They do everything from celebrating employee milestones, to running learning & development sessions, to organising a run club, to hosting fun work events.
What are the company's plans for the next 12 months?
Our strategy for this financial year is to leverage the network effect to build an online and offline community around our social care offering. We’ll be focusing on key customer segments to scale our services nationally, and eventually, globally.
How do you approach diversity and inclusion?
We founded Like Family to make Australians of all ages and abilities feel supported and included. This extends to our own team. About half of our employees are women, 75% of our board are women, 60% of our C-suite are women, and 25% of our senior leadership team are LGBTQ+ identifying. We post our jobs on ethical job boards and offer a generous work from home policy to attract women and people with disability to apply.
