"Co-founded by CEO John Winters and CTO Wayne Baskin in 2018, Superhero’s mission is to make investing affordable, accessible, and understandable. Today, we’re proudly helping over 250,000 investors and superannuation members reimagine their financial future and feel confident about their wealth-building journeys. By combining low fees with intuitive and easy to use design, we’ve developed an award winning investment platform. Our flagship superannuation offering, Superhero Super, has been designed to give investors the flexibility and transparency over how their hard-earned retirement savings are invested. "
What is the company’s approach to professional development?
"At Superhero, we know that our employees are our most important asset. And with that, we believe that investing in our Superheroes’ professional development is essential to the business’ success. We encourage our employees to attend conferences and external training to further their professional development. We also endeavour to showcase the skills and hard work of our employees by nominating them for personal awards such as B&Ts 30 under 30 and Women Leading Technology awards. In addition to this, we run an internal lunch and learn program where subject matter experts both from within the team and external to the business present on relevant topics. "
What is the company's culture like?
Since launching in 2020, Superhero’s culture has always been a key priority for the business. While we aim to hire the most talented employees for our team, cultural add is just as important. We aren't just trying to find people who are similar to each other but Superheroes who will add to our culture and work well together. From organising team events like trivia nights to charity days, our team enjoys spending time with each other both in and outside the office. The strong culture we’ve developed means that as a business we have incredibly low churn across teams.
What are the company's plans for the next 12 months?
There’s a lot in the works for Superhero over the next 12 months. We launched in New Zealand just a couple of months ago and growing our presence there is a key focus. In addition, we plan to expand our product offering across both trading and superannuation through new features and strategic partnerships.
How do you approach diversity and inclusion?
"At Superhero, we are very proud to have a diverse team made of people from all backgrounds and experiences. We know the best ideas and results come from having a diverse team and we endeavour to celebrate the diverse backgrounds of our team on a regular basis. We have a 40 per cent female workforce at Superhero including in key leadership positions across strategy, compliance and product design."
