"At Verve, we think a fairer, more equitable society can change the world. In fact, it’s what we’ve always believed, and why we created Verve Super in 2018 and later Verve Money. We felt an urgency to bring Verve to life because we were sick of the status quo: we had a 35% super gap between men and women, elderly Australian women retiring into poverty, and Big Banks and super funds plagued by scandals. We wanted ethical, trustworthy, and supportive financial services for women, now. And we wanted the opportunity for women to control capital to invest in the more compassionate, sustainable, and healthy future we all want, now.Our two product contribute to this aim: Verve Super, which is an ethical superannuation product by women, for women+, and Verve Money, the ethical investing app supporting you to build wealth and flex your power for good.Today we have 25,000 amazing community members (and growing) working towards their financial independence – and importantly, we’ve helped invest $270 million in a better future for all. Come join us!"
What is the company’s approach to professional development?
"As a small company with a relatively flat hierarchy, professional development is plentiful! We trust our team to fully 'own' the areas that they work in, and encourage them to think beyond just their area of expertise to act as if they are the founder of the company. We also hope that this is reflected in our perks! If our team has a game changing idea they'd like to introduce and drive that's outside the scope of their role, Verve would be happy to consider providing funding and growth to business and values aligned ideas, with the presentation of a compelling business case! Each team member also has a flexible professional development budget. We will also invest a further $1000 per team member per year in group learning initiatives, team experience and culture-add activities. And if all of that isn't enough, our teams also get 1-1 and group life and financial coaching sessions too! We do for our team as we would do for our members."
What is the company's culture like?
"We love working here!! Our team is genuinely brilliant, empathetic, and want to make a difference in the world, and we think that this is summed up via our values:- EMPOWER 🎯 Work side-by-side and support others to achieve goals, bring out their best and fulfil their potential. - AMBITIOUS 🚀 Relentlessly pursue excellence in everything we do and set our sights high. - BRING OUT THE BEST 💜 Bring out the best in each other and in every situation. Encourage inclusivity and opportunities to build a better world. - HUMBLE 😌 Accept our own, and others', strengths and limitations without defensiveness, judgment or ego. - ENTREPRENEURIAL 🪜 Actively drive growth and positive change. We seek solutions, hustle to execute, and celebrate success.Come meet the team and see for yourself! We are always up for making new connections with likeminded people and organisations"
What are the company's plans for the next 12 months?
Growth, growth, growth! We have just launched Verve Money and will be working on building that base to ensure that we can help more women+ and allies build their financial futures
How do you approach diversity and inclusion?
"At Verve we know that diversity makes us stronger as a team and we actively seek to employ people who reflect the diversity of our members to ensure we can support their needs and build a community alongside them. We have supports in place to support our diverse team members, including generous paid parental leave policies that are the same for both the primary and secondary caregiver, the ability to choose the location of work or come into our Sydney office, the ability to elect part-time work (which almost half of our team does!), carers leave for those supporting sick friends or family members, and menstrual leave for those that battle through period paid or menopause symptoms!! We also love hearing people's ideas, so are always refining how we can support our small but mighty team!"
